We believe words are a profound way to learn about different experiences. Through lyricism, poetic or stylistic devices, and plotlines, books allow us a glimpse into other’s lives, identities, and communities. We created ad astra to spotlight books by and about women, non-binary, queer, and femme folks, especially those by and about Black, Brown, Indigenous, and Asian voices, and to develop a space to speak and learn from one another. 

Through an intersectional feminist lens, we hope to expand thoughts, initiate conversations, and expose readers to more journeys. We hope that these conversations encourage readers to go out into the world to advocate for, inspire, support, and create change, working towards dismantling white supremacy and empowering intersectional feminism.

We hope you find a book that speaks to you. We hope that you find a conversation that calls on you to join. But if not, perhaps it’s a sign that you should start a new conversation— or possibly even write a story— that does. As Toni Morrison famously wrote, “If there’s a book that you want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it.”
